Photos: Texas Deer Wrangling

Email said: These pictures  were taken near Weimar, Texas on or about October 28th... these two young bucks were found with their antlers locked together. Some of the local boys managed to get them apart without getting themselves or the bucks hurt... comment

David in NC's Gravatar That's pretty good right there!

...But also dangerous. After that 62 yr. old man in Indiana died from a kick to the midsection that lacerated his liver, I will think twice about tackling a live deer for any reason. Those hooves are sharp! And faster than you are.

Mack's Gravatar Right on David. It is hard enough to wrangle a sedated critter..

Lance's Gravatar WOW! That is awesome. I'm not saying I want to try though. Why didn't they cut the rope a few inches from the bucks antlers?

Hunter, Nc's Gravatar Thats pretty wild.. I know those two deer are young, thats obvious. But i always wondered how small texas deer were. And seeing that kind of shows
just how small they are. Those are two young bucks id guess 2 1/2's by their horns but if i was guessin just by their bodies id say yearlins.
Am i even close? i just want to know because ive always wondered just how small they were. Ive seen big texas deer on huntin ranches on tv, but is that more their general size for your typical texas deer?

Paul-NJ's Gravatar I agree with Hunter....Boy those bucks like small. I think my black lab is bigger than they are. None-the-less they are still dangerous. I bet they wouldn't try that with a pair of Canadian bucks!

Chad's Gravatar I've never had the urge to hunt Texas deer....and after seeing the size of those little bucks now I know why. Those things are tiny compared to Midwestern deer.

NHBOWHUNTER's Gravatar Went to college in FL and was always amazed with how small some of the bucks were there as well. To hot in those states animals have to be smaller to stay cool. Comes down to body mass to surface area ratio.

Anyway enough science nerd talk..... cool pictures Mike! Thanks for the story!
