Giant Croc Photo!

This photo popped up on my Facebook page. The giant was shot on the Zambezi, wherever that is, and the size of it is astonishing. No wonder these predators can swallow animals (including people) whole. I have no desire to hunt one, would you? comment

Curt's Gravatar Hell yeah! The shooter never has to jump in the water to get it. So, I'd be up for it. If I have to go in after it..forget it!

Big Daddy's Gravatar the Zambezi river runs thru 6 countries prior to emptying into the Indian Ocean. I have hunted the Zambei delta for buufalo and croc an will tell you that croc hunting is a hell of alot harder than whitetail hunting (which I adore). Stealth is the method and you had better be dead on accurate as it is mandatory to hit a golf ball size brain at 100 yds or more, because rarely can one get closer to a croc than that. It surely is no southern USA gator hunt!

Greg Brownlee's Gravatar Mike, it's a trick photo. The people in the photo are about 10-15 feet behind the photo. This croc was "only" about 12 feet long. We did have a client shoot one in Ethiopia that was 18' long with about 2' of his tail missing, but this one's not as big as it seems.

V. in N.C.'s Gravatar Wow.
The evolutionary clock stopped on that thing a long, long, long time ago. That would make one hell of a nice pelt for the man cave wall.
I've seen hunting shows like "Under Wild Skies" where they would use Zebra and other game as bait for croc hunting.
And, like Big Daddy said, you have to be a marksmen to kill one with a rifle shot. You have to place your bullet right at the back of the
"smile". That is, just behind the corner of the mouth to anchor one on the river bank. I would not have a desire to hunt crocs.
But, I would love to travel to Africa one day to hunt plains game and maybe Cape Buffalo.

Imagine living in an environment where you have to go to a river to draw water for cooking and cleaning for your family, but you have
to take a wingman with you to watch out for crocs!
I read somewhere a while back that in certain parts of India, many people are killed each year by Tigers...
Some parts of the world are still unchanged from centuries ago.

Amazing photo...
