Great PA Bow Buck

Mike: Nowhere near big enough for your site, and actually one of my smallest deer. But this was one of my best hunts ever. Wife and I had a rough couple of months (she got laid off), I’ve been working a lot of extra hours (cutting WAY back on my hunting time) and we depend on deer meat. Would have shot a doe, but he came through alone and we were down to 20 pounds of meat.  Here is a link to the whole story if you are interested: www.pahuntingzone.com. Have a good one, and best of luck with the rest of your season. Chad in PA

I wrote Chad back and told him that while we all strive for a big buck, the size of the animal does not always matter. That’s a great buck he killed for the meat, for his family, for the right reasons, way to go man. Good luck to Chad and all you Bloggers as we work through these tough times. Keep your head down, plow forward, work hard, hunt hard, eat more deer meat.

Nice job Chad, dont worry about rack size, you cant eat the antlers anyways. We dont all live in big buck country where you
can pass up 1-1/2 or 2-1/2 year old bucks. Meat in the freezer brother.

Chad, there is absoulutely no shame in providing for your family. Hold your head high. That's a true trophy in my book.

Chad, enjoy those good eats and congrats on a great buck! This site isn't always just about Big Bucks. There's a lot of heart involved here as well.

Great story. Size of the rack doesn't matter in times like these.

These are the stories I like! This is what hunting is all about, not the antlers. This is a true trophy. It means so much more than shooting a 180 incher on a 2000 acre private piece. You can dispute that all you want but this is the true beauty of our pastime. Congrats on a great hunt and enjoy the venison. These are truly tough times!

Hey Chad,
Way to go, big man! One thing I've noticed about this site is that it's a bunch of good folks - you included. I'd share camp with anyone on this site. You keep working hard and the good Lord will provide. All Americans should take a few tips from you. While most are folding up their tents, you pull your boot-straps a little tighter and get to work. You're a stand up guy. You deserve that buck. And by the way, he's plenty big enough for this site.

Isn't this an example of exactly why we should be hunting...for both enjoyment and to provide some protien for our families.... rather than to feed inflated egos

Chad, that's about the best buck I've seen on this site. Congratulations for getting the job done. Keep your head up, man.

It's why we hunt. Great Whitetail Buck. Who would not be proud. You provided for your family and had a great hunt. What could be better ? You were blessed and thanks for sharing the email Hanbeck. It's a sport we all can get the same rush from wheather the Whitetail is a record or not. A personel best in anything is great. Nice to see this site is not just about rich snobs that hunt inside some fence for thousands. That's a fine free range buck in my book. Not everyone is privledged to hire guides or even have access to private managed land, in fact most don't. If you do have the private land how about taking along someone who doesn't ???Isn't that really what this sport is about ? Way to go guys !

Don I haven't run off...I've been working..right now I'm sitting in deer camp having a Mick ultra to celebrate the 165+ buckI killed this morning....same buck i passed on twice before this week...today'sthe last day of my hunt so I dumped him...that may sound as feeding an inflated ego to some but I've been more years than not just like this guy with ANY deer down for the freezer for the family and my limited hunting time.
As for all the shit some give me...I've been married 3 times so it's nothing new to me! :>) BD
